The Iowa women would like to dispute the claim that basketball in Iowa City is down this year. Bluder's Bunch maintained first-place in the Big Ten with their latest victory, 73-65, over PennState. Iowa has ripped off eight-consecutive victories. Iowa coach Lisa Bluder on the win.
Iowa had to hold off numerous second half rallies by the Nittany Lions, a big factor in being able to stay out in front was the tremendous free throw shooting. The Hawks were 19-of-20 from the charity stripe in yet another close victory.
The Hawks are now 17-7 overall and have an upcoming showdown at Purdue on Thursday. The Boilermakers are currently tied with the Hawkeyes for first in the Big Ten.
